Arizona during an internship I did with the City of Fountain Hills.
In front of every summer storm that summer there was a huge dust cloud to announce that the rains were coming. Happened for a solid week during my 12 week trip. For a GA boy used to the beautiful shades of green it was quite an eye-opening experience.
There are tons of great trails out there just remember it is a dry heat. With 109 degree temps you do not know your sweating because it evaporates before you can wipe it off. Stay hydrated or make the news when hiking is Arizona.
